Pass that SALT, please?

Salty as it may sound, yet Angelina Jolie never fails to deliver a good character in any stunt movies she signed up for. From TOMB RAIDER to WANTED, she makes stunts looking zexy and effortless. Though we know there's always the stunt double to do all the stunts, Kudos to Jolie for raising the bar for any female actresses to star in an action-packed movie. Plot wise, it's predictable yet it's not as cliched as other movies.

In the past, I've written a novel that I never got to finish, entitled "V- for Vladimir". Yes, It sounds Russian and indeed it's about a Russian character. I had created a character more or less the same as SALT. A Russian Spy who was trained from her childhood to assassinate the President . The only difference is the character is more complicated, and as usual she is being haunted by her past. Similar to other movie, there's the conflict that made up the plot. I did not get to finish it since I had very little knowledge/schemata on the political, weaponry and physical setting of my story. (I wrote it during my free times in University)

Today, I feel like writing it again however I find the task rather time consuming and impossible to me. So, for those of you who doesn't have a clue what SALT is about, click the link below for a quick preview. Just look and stare at her SEXY lips and let me hypnotize you.

p/s: Thanks to doubleedgeboy for making THIS(below) possible! =) My knowledge on technology is rather ancient.

Blog-Ga!

It has been a year since I last blogged! Maybe it was the laziness, the mid-life crisis(am I too early to develop one) or maybe it was due to the poor internet service. Blame the technology, yada yada yada...but at the end of the day, it might not be so bad to admit that I might have lazed out or simply getting bored with blogging. It was until recently that I suddenly felt like blogging again! yeah, it was out of the blue, just like that(a finger snap!) just for the sake of keeping my account from being terminated? But now, after reading more blog entries from my friends and students. I am inspired to write again. *ting! comes the lightbulb! Ideas are mounting to great height! oh, wait! there must be a capacity and density that this blog serves. If not, it could easily be mistaken with a celebrity gossip blog or a middle age man's rants ; full of angst and frustration. So, why don't I make my blog an opposite to the latter? Maybe I could write something positive? something that will inspire first and foremost, myself, then others?

To start with, I'm going to find and evaluate my own voice... lalalalala(suara sumbang!) The hardest part will be maintaining that voice (that one theme/strength) in my blog. As usual, laughter is one of the important ingredients. And it even came out as a joke, to blog after one year of leaving it and to find that blogger.com is getting more sophisticated and interesting. So, my first attempt was to change the background. And there you have, a shelve full of books.

I'm hoping to achieve the objective of this blog: to read more and to write better materials.

Goodbye my friend!

They say: It takes forever to say goodbye, so why does it take too long to say the word? Probably the poster above says it all...It kills both you and your friend(emotionally) to say goodbye.

No matter how old we are, we share the same feeling of sadness when it comes to saying Goodbyes. will it stop? Never. Getting to know a person means to be ready to say goodbye to him / her anytime in the future.

I choose rather not to give my own account of high school farewell but to share a bit of what my students are going through every year especially at the end of the year. Last year, I remember a student of mine telling me how sad he was for leaving his classmates and school years. Some were so emotional and some were excited to get over with form 5. How could you not be excited when the thought of leaving the school uniform that you have been wearing for the last five years (not that u're wearing the same clothes for 5 years,Ha!) comes to mind. The waiting is worth it though, believe me, you'll miss it.

But I remember my dutch best friend, Dennis who is also my 'brother' quoting: do not be dismay by goodbye. A goodbye is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again after a moment or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends (Richard bach)

To me, a goodbye is a moment for me to give a space for my friends/loved ones to grow up. It is the time of reflection and I belive, we will appreciate our friends more if we could allow ourselves to grow together.

Mrs. Hak and Mrs Pak who are dog owners are arguing about whose dog is smarter.

Mrs. Hak: My dog is so smart. every morning,he waits for the paperman to come around and then he takes the the newspaper and brings it to me.

Mrs. Pak: I know ...

Mrs. Hak : How do you know?

Mrs. Pak : My dog told me.

Miss Right

Not that I care...but(how can someone be that stupid?)

I am a big fan of T-shirts, the more creative the design is, the better! However, there is a limit to creativity especially when it comes to profanity.

I rarely curse and shouldn't encourage myself to indulge in that culture but when I saw a T-shirt that loudly Shouts out profanity! at a shopping mall(boulevard,3rd floor). I just can't stand my irritation nor my mouth from cursing that person (what an irony to curse someone who curse) and wondering why would they sell the T-shirt. Only Morons should wear it! and Morons would sell it!

Look at this t-shirt.

How many times does the 'designer' have to repeat the same 'F' words? Something must have gone wrong inside his head! Maybe He thinks that it's cool to have the word printed on a T-shirt! If someone came up to me wearing that T-shirt, I would probably kick him.
What do you think of this T-shit?(now, I'm cursing) would you put that T-shirt on?(Shantelle)

How do you call your Granny? ninek ? hmmm..whatever!

I remember teaching my weaker Students the very basic of English: family members.

Conversation went as the following:

T: I show a picture of 'father' and ask 'Who is this?'
Ss: Bapak ORG! Cikgu Zul!(bersomet nya...Cikgu Zul indah!)

T: NO....How do you say ' Ayah' in English?
Ss: ...there was no respond....sounds of cricket filled the room

T: It's Father! repeat after me! Faaaaa Derrr!
Ss:....("it turned into a Kindergarten class)

So I taught them all the words and at the end of the lesson, I tried to test their knowledge by asking them one by one to answer my question:

T: I need you to say the answer in English! Ok, Here we go.
Ayah?
Ss: Fader
T: Ibu?
Ss: Made...
T: Abang
Ss: Brader
T: Kakak?
Ss: Sister

The next one made me stumbles and I laughed my heart out!
T: Nenek?
Ss: NEKTER!!!!! they thought every word ends with -ter!'

and what is a Nekter???? it's grandmother! So, there you go, word of the day 'Nekter'!

could this be their infamous Nekter? hahaha...

Sir, May I...?

I was teaching my form 1 class, 1 G. G for Gemilang. Never thought that they have a thing for Jaclyn Victor too(GEMILANG) hahaha...

So each time when I came into the class, I would find that half of the class has gone missing. There are only 20 of them, so you can imagine how many are left lying and playing in the class. Usually I would scold and punish them but to no avail.I just don't understand the trend of going out to toilet/from class. The usual conversation would be like this:

attempt 1:
Ss: Sir, tandas.
Me: Say it in English, Please!

Ss: Sir...errr(looking at their friends) and the background noise started to scream: toilet! toilet!

Me: Yes, could you repeat that?
Ss: Sir, Toilet!

Me: I'm not a toilet! (doing sign language)
Laughter broke the already noisy class.

Me: Ok, everyone! Repeat after me! "Sir, May I go To the Toilet?" Only those who can say 'this' can go out.

Tr and Ss then indulged in a repetition of Monologue.

Ok..now try it!

Ss: Sir, May to to to to toilet?

Me: NO! Wrong(starts to feel fed up)

Me: Sir, May I...May I Go...TO ...THE...TOILET?
Ss repeat after me and then once again, I let him/her try.

Ss: Sir, May I go.........(no answer)

I used all the sign language available to teach them but the word just won't come out!

and the 40 minutes lesson ended with teaching them how to ask permission. If he's lucky, then He'll get his chance to go to the toilet. Otherwise, only God knows how terrible he must have felt to hold himself from peeing in his pants!

The same scenario is still happening until today, and I start to wonder, maybe I should be a Janitor and clean the toilet with them! I promise never to go GaGa when I hear the same mistakes they made in class.
